Chess Playground
Drag pieces freely and invent your own calm chess stories.
The Chess Playground is a very gentle version of chess. There is no check, checkmate or timer. Instead, the board is a quiet stage where kids can drag pieces around and explore how they feel in different places. Itβs like a toy chessboard on the screen.
All pieces start in the normal starting position, using clear and friendly symbols. Children can tap a piece and then tap another square to move it. The game does not stop illegal moves on purpose, because the goal is to let kids set up their own ideas, puzzles and story positions.
Parents or teachers can use the playground to demonstrate simple concepts: how rooks travel in straight lines, how knights jump, how pawns advance or how kings need to stay safe. Kids can copy these shapes, move pieces back and forth and slowly build confidence without worrying about winning or losing.
If the board becomes too messy, there is a reset button that gently restores all the pieces to their original squares. The game remembers nothing between visits, so every session is fresh and free of pressure.

Play Ideas
- Place two kings on the board and practise moving them closer together.
- Put a knight in the centre and see which squares it can reach in two moves.
- Build tiny endgame puzzles such as βone rook versus one kingβ.
- Let kids create completely silly positions just for fun.
This playground does not judge or score the moves. It is here to support gentle exploration and storytelling around the chessboard.
